Can I speak to the Chair of the Tribunal?
The Chair is unable to comment on active matters before the Tribunal. Depending on the nature of your question, the Registrar or General Manager, who deal with the operational issues, may be in a better position to answer your questions.


What legislation does the Social Benefits Tribunal deal with?

What is Section 4(1)?

I have an overpayment but I don't understand the calculations. Will the Tribunal explain them to me?
The Social Benefits Tribunal does not calculate overpayments implemented by your local office or the Ontario Disability Support Program office.  You must contact those offices for details on the calculation.


I am having a difficult time working with the Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program offices. Who should I contact for help?
The Social Benefits Tribunal does not have any control over the administration of the Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program offices.  You may wish to contact the manager of the office or a legal clinic.  For legal assistance, you may wish to visit the web site www.legalaid.on.ca.


What happens if an appellant dies before the hearing?
The hearing may be able to proceed with a representative attending on behalf of the deceased appellant depending on the issue.
 


How do I get a witness to attend the hearing?
It is up to you to speak to your witness to arrange for him/her to be at the hearing. If you need a Summons, contact your Client Service Representative.


If I decide that I want a lawyer to represent me but I can't afford to retain one, what do I do?
You might be able to receive legal aid.  For more information visit their web site www.legalaid.on.ca.
