No, you do not have to have a lawyer. Some people come with lawyers and others do not. You must make your own decision about whether to have a lawyer or another person represent you. No, the Social Benefits Tribunal does not provide a lawyer or pay for a lawyer. For more information, check our brochure by clicking here A legal clinic or legal aid office might be able to help you. For more information, please refer to the web site for the legal clinics by visiting their web site at www.legalaid.on.ca. Client Service Representatives work for the Tribunal. They cannot represent you at your hearing. Anyone over the age of 18 who is not a witness at the hearing may represent you.
